I discovered the Outlander books after watching the Starz Series. I usually read the books before the show or the movie but in this case I discovered the books because of the series. I am obsessed with both now!!!This is one case of the TV series very accurately paying homage in a way that stays true to the books and Diana Gabaldon's epic vision and imaginative world she has created.I am ahead in the books than where the series is so far and I love being able to discover what will happen to my beloved Jamie and Claire and not having to wait until next season. I can't put these books down! I go from one right into the next with many a night spent reading on my tablet until the wee hours of the morning only stopping when sleep cannot be staved off and my eyelids lose the battle against my desire to read just one more chapter! These books have just the right mixture of fantasy, romance, action, and historical fiction and everything is underlined by the epic love story of Jamie and Claire. There is a colorful and complex set of subplots and supporting characters who almost could warrant their own story lines and separate books.Diana's world is so carefully and well crafted it could go on forever. She could continue to peel back the layers of her other characters and mythic world into an endless series of books and stories as she has already begun to do with some of the spin-off stories like with the Lord John books.I love Diana's writing style and her world and I am so happy to have found the Outlander universe through the books and the TV show which, thankfully, is staying true to her vision and voice.

I loved the first book. Now I am making myself finish them all, because I care about the fate of a couple of characters. But I just scan through pages a lot. They really should be dubbed "Claire and Jamie go to America", "Claire and Jamie cross the Atlantic", etc, etc. The story has lost a lot of its appeal, and the characters a lot of their attraction. The author tries to recreate some of the connection Claire and Jamie originally experienced, through Brianna and Roger, but not very successfully, and the attempts feel halfhearted. Now, if Ms Gabaldon would only stop using French (I am French. Hers is horrendous, incorrect, and embarrassing), or try to make us believe that any individual, let alone above 40 years of age, is still capable and willing to have sex after throwing his back out and being stuck in the wilderness for a whole day, or that a surgeon never took off her ring, I could almost stomach her visible obsession with testicles, "contracting" or not. I know, I know, I shouldn't expect so much from that type of book. But having had thoroughly enjoyed the first book, the others are a bit of a let down.

We love the series but this comes as a single Kindle book and is, therefore, a nightmare to read. Not worth the $1 savings to by this way. Wish I'd bought individually. If you lose your place, have fun finding it. If you want to know how much you've read, or how much is left, you can't--the % refers to the 4 books together. Never again will I buy a bundle....

I love the story, I love the writing. I have only one regret... buying the bundle for my Kindle. Yes, I saved a bit of money, but the books are so HUGE that it is difficult to find my place (I have multiple devices, and no, they are not synched.) My tablet does not allow me to skip through by chapter, so I have to go by percentage. 1% of each of these books covers a substantial number of pages; 1% of the four books together makes the task much more difficult. (This is also complicated by the fact that I am not reading these for the first time so no matter what page I land on, the story is familiar.)

I bought the entire Outlander eBook Series for my wife two months ago. She hasn't talked to me since then, not because she's mad at me, no way, she simply can't put down the books and talk to me. I can't wait for her to finish the last book. I hope Diana Gabaldon doesn't add more books to the Outlander Series and starts a new series instead so my wife will starts talking to me, but then again a new series may captivate my wife as well..

Best series of books I have ever read despite the length and oft tedious detail about nothing. When the action comes I just can't put the book down. Many long nights of lost sleep! I'm very happy though because I'm retired and have nothing but time on my hands. I am soooo involved that sometimes I don't know if I dreamed something or Clair dreamed the incident. Now that is hitting home! I've finished the first 6 books and rue the day that I finish. Purchased this for my daughter. She loves it too but in her busy life it is taking her forever to read.Ok, I finished the 8th book and now awaiting book number 9. I did think Diana got a bit sloppy in her chronology though. I picked up on 2 discrepancies.1. John Grey asks Dottie if Ian survived his wound at location 90030 in the book yet Grey attended Ian's wedding months ago in location 87190 and saw that Ian was in obvious good health and fully recovered.2. (Without giving away the name) the family buried someone in the Chapter "Hallowed Ground," (location 91144) alongside the grave marked Rollo yet further along months later in location 91746 Ian was scratching the dog's head. I think she forgot Rollo was dead.Did anyone else catch this? Still 5 stars though because the research required for this saga is overwhelming.

Thank you Diana Gabaldon for writing these lovely books. Their endearing characters are well developed, the plot expertly woven. I never intended to become engrossed but I did.I read these books after a trip to Scotland where we visited many of the sites mentioned. Many Outlander fans would appear and ask the docents questions pertaining to the book. Now those sights are quite vivid in my imagination. Also thank you for writing a story about marital love, fidelity, faith, and functional families without being corny or formulaic. Now I’ll have to pout for a while until I find another great story.
