Ok dictionary. But about 30 pages were bound in angled. This makes it so that it is not a smooth flipping through experience.I purchased as a gift for my niece’s birthday. No time to return it. I’m Disappointed, poor quality controls for a book to be sent out like this.UPDATE: my 11 year old niece loved the dictionary! She did notice the misbound pages so she asked if I could exchange it for her, so I did. of course amazon made that process so easy.
The dictionary is great. Colorful and easy to read. The packaging was not so good. I ordered two hardback dictionaries and they were not secure in the large box. They moved around and hit each other during shipping. Consequently some of the pages were folded in and all messed up in one of the dictionaries.
Not for a young child, better for a junior high school aged kid. I should have bought the younger level illustrated one for my 7 year old. But she'll have this for when she's older so I don't mind it.
We need more dictionaries for our middle school students with limited English to use. This dictionary is an updated version of ones we already have. We needed more copies and was happy to see a newer version. Nice book - easy to use.
I bought this for my neighbor's grandchild. She was so happy when she got it for her birthday. She had been wanting one and she is thrilled with it. This is one book that is a must have. Children need extra help and this book will be the book that will do it. I highly recommend this to adults for their children to excel.
I asked my 4th grade ..10 year old grandson for his review . He said " I would give it a 9 out of 10". He explained " because I'm not used to using a dictionary yet." Print is big enough. Said he used it "pretty often"
Our son is in UIL and he is required to use a dictionary. The school provided this one, but he wasn't allowed to have it at home so we bought it to support him. He's quite happy with it. I would have given it 5 but it's not the full dictionary just one abbreviated for jr. high level.
Kindle comes with 2 default dictionaries. The NEW Oxford is worthless. It uses the same word you are looking up to describe the word, something anyone in the 8th grade would know is a no-no. So I deleted that one. The regular Oxford is pretty good, but not at good as I wanted. So I downloaded this Intermediate version of MW, and it's a great dictionary. It doesn't even come close to the amount of words described in the Oxford, but what's so neat about it is that if you highlight a word and MW doesn't have it, it AUTOMATICALLY switches over to the Oxford, which almost always will have it. So I highly recommend this dictionary. It puts out definitions that are far more clear than the Oxford. Perfect also for your Jr Hi kid or even HS kid. It's an amazing dictionary.
