UX mappingDid the author unconsciously and completely ignored his users ( readers of the book) ?The book still need two rounds or revisions. Missing basic design principles( four different fonts sometimes in one paragraph) black and white printing for all images/figures and maps despite being the topic of the book ( UX mapping) !!!images are printed at best 72dpi makes it impossible to read in many cases, I challenge anyone to read details of figure in p53 as an example of many other pages that suffered from the same.None of the figures were even numbered and while author provided a link to download these in colors how would one reorganize these in place without any reference? If this was published in electronic format I reckon one would at least get these figures legible.First chapter spent seeding the metaphor cat feeding and go through pages and pages to to teach drawing maps using MS Words !!Literally two paragraphs summary p35 could replace the previous 34 pages.Furthermore another 20 pages on using illustrator and, another 10 for Smplay then a whole chapter 5 for balsamic etc. I mean these are just tools anyone can pickup and get hold of them so this shift from discussing what is supposed to be an important topic of UX into tutorial style writing that one can find in abundance online; this, just very disappointing for me as a reader who was expecting lot more from someone who claim to be an expert on the topic.I will not go through the gaps of each chapter ( what is and what ought to be) but starting from basic authorship, organization, structure, ideas flow, development, and conclusions .. lots need to be revised. Jumping in tone, first person, reflection, past situations, cases, personal comments just too dizzy to follow.Yes lots of UX deployment has intimate space with agile but the ways presented did not do good for both.I teach UX as partial component for my students in a particular course that address design and authoring for different systems, within three lectures range, I present more than what you hope to get from this book, which I hoped would help me plan for a complete course on the topic.I hope the author will take these notes on board, I wouldn’t say editing or 2nd version improvements, but rather a rewrite all together.
Well written book on all map types, and more. Originally I wanted a book on journey mapping and user story mapping. This book contains a very detailed explanation both of those and more. The examples are from real projects, and often narrated in an enjoyable and funny way. What I did not expect from a UX book is to have fun. It's the "Don't make me think!" of Mapping. The only drawback is the relative shortness of the Kaizen-UX chapter. It's a complex management framework, and a few pages are simply not enough to fully understand it. (To be fair, the chapter focuses on the mapping aspect of it, but a full book or at least a book with 50+ pages on Kaizen-UX would be nice.) Overall, it's the best book on User Experience Mapping.
I'm a full stack developer, and often need to create wireframes, user journey maps. As a certified SCRUM master, I had a bit of experience with User Stories. This book refreshed what I knew, and added many new details, and make me understand all those better. This is why I bought it. Now it went way beyond. I haven't even heard of behavioural change UX, or many other cutting edge stuff from the book.
This book teached me many small details about UX Mapping. So a big thank you to the author! I just simply love it.
